We recently transformed our Community Room into a hub of innovation and celebration by welcoming our 2026 Summer Initiative Grantee partners for a morning of shared learning. Together, we reviewed the impact of this year’s summer programming and charted the future of our partnership with Trenton, Hamilton, and Ewing Public Schools through THE Mercer Community School Coalition.
When public schools and local nonprofits align their efforts, children benefit from a seamless, year-round ecosystem of care. Because our educators and community organizations serve the same students, bridging the gap between the classroom and out-of-school programs ensures that children receive continuous, holistic support. These linkages break down resource silos, prevent summer learning slide, and create a unified safety net that empowers families to thrive.
As a convener, the Community Foundation is proud to spark these connections. We were honored to be joined in this work by the educational leaders driving this vision forward, including James Earle, Superintendent of Trenton Public Schools; Joanne Sung, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning; Hope Grant, Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Schools; Dr. Scott Rocco, Superintendent of Hamilton Public Schools; and Kevin Bobetich, District Supervisor of Testing, Assessment, Evaluation, Data Systems and Special Projects.
Thank you to all of our grantee partners and public school partners for sharing your expertise and for your dedication to creating opportunities for young people across Mercer County.
