The Princeton Area Community Foundation Fund for Women and Girls, a community of philanthropists working together to improve the lives of women and girls in central New Jersey, today announced its 2013 grant awards, totaling $92,700:
Millhill Child & Family Development – $17,700 for Trenton PEERS, an innovative performance-based education and empowerment program
PEI Kids – $25,000 to protect girls from sexual abuse through education and intervention.
RISE Community Service Partnership – $25,000 for Women and Girls on the RISE, working to end dating and domestic violence and impart leadership skills to young women.
Womanspace – $25,000 for transitional housing and support for victims of domestic abuse.
These grants were made possible by the collective generosity of over 400 donors to the Fund for Women and Girls. The Fund reviewed fifteen grant applications. Its members met with leadership from eight finalist organizations, and voted to select recipients.
Last year, the Fund made a total of $40,000 in grants. Fund members commissioned research on the needs of women and girls in the region, the results of which have shaped funding priorities to focus on health, safety, economic security, and leadership opportunity.
