Cathleen Rolston Litvack, who served as a founding board member at the Community Foundation, passed away on February 9. She was 81 years old.

“She was a wonderful woman,” said Anthony “Skip” Cimino, a former Community Foundation Board Chair who knew Cate from their time working together in local politics. “She was very well respected in the Princeton community. I wasn’t surprised when I joined the Community Foundation board and I learned she had been a member, knowing the generosity of spirit that Cate had, and her ability to make things happen. She was a go-getter. She’d make things happen.”

John Hatch, one of the founders of the Trenton Arts Fund, said he got to know Cate through her job as the first Executive Director of Crossroads of the American Revolution and her volunteer work with local nonprofits.

“I knew she knew a lot about the arts, and culture, and history and I knew she knew the area, and she loved Trenton history, so we asked her to be an advisor to the Fund,” he said. “She was very smart and down to earth, and she was just a great person to work with as an advisor to the Fund.”

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James Litvack, a daughter, two grandchildren, and extended family. Skip said Cate had a strong work ethic, and she cared for people. “She was engaging and generous with her time,” he said. “She was just a marvelous individual. She was a real gem.”

Donations in her memory can be made to the D&R Greenway, The Old Barracks Museum, or Trenton Arts Fund at the Community Foundation.
